The Dixie Classic Fair Asks Fairgoers to get Unleashed

New 2010 Theme Announced; Special Guests to be Featured

Winston-Salem, N.C., July 7, 2010 –
The Dixie Classic Fair, the second largest agricultural Fair in North Carolina and owned and operated by the City of Winston-Salem, N.C., is asking the hundreds of thousands of Fairgoers across the Piedmont, Triad and Northwest North Carolina to get “Unleashed” at this year’s Fair held Oct. 1-10 – the newest theme for the 128-year-old event.

The theme, derived from some of the Fair’s special guests including local animal organizations Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation (AARF), Forsyth Humane Society, Fur-Ever Friends Group and Humane Solution, celebrates not only the fun-loving, furry creatures that will be available for adoption onsite, but the unleashed excitement the Fair encourages year after year.

“We are very excited to be hosting these wonderful local organizations that support animal adoption and responsible pet ownership in our region,” said David Sparks, Dixie Classic Fair director. “We’ve participated with groups in the past, but this will be the first year pets will be available for an onsite adoption process.”

In addition to onsite adoption, the organizations will provide Fairgoers with information on their specific group and the services they provide, the adoption process, proper pet care and new ordinances. The four groups plan to share staffing throughout the 10-day event and will feature animals for everyone from puppies and kittens to mature dogs and cats. For more information about the participating organizations, links will be posted to the Dixie Classic Fair website, DCFair.com, as well as its Facebook and Twitter pages, Facebook.com/DCFair and Twitter.com/DCFair.
