Contest Themes and Regulations for Creative Cooks Now Available
Winston-Salem, N.C., July 19, 2010 – The Dixie Classic Fair, the second largest agricultural Fair in North Carolina and owned and operated by the City of Winston-Salem, N.C., has released the 2010 special fun-food contests to be held at this year’s Fair which is scheduled from Oct. 1-10.
Featuring competitions for chefs at every level, contests range from Karo Corn Syrup®’s “Perfect Pie” and KC Masterpiece®’s “Real Deal Recipe” to Spam’s® “Spice up your Mac and Cheese for Spam.” The contests also include one with more philanthropic support, “Bake for the Cure,” which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Each year, the special fun-food contests bring the most out of ordinary recipes, such as the chocolate saltine coffee recipe from the “Ghirardelli Chocolate Championship” or the apple caramel toaster snackers recipe from the “Make it with Malt-o-Meal” competition. The Dixie Classic Fair is encouraging all Fairgoers with a culinary passion to enter. Winners could receive grand prizes up to $800 as well as take home one of the most coveted unofficial awards, bragging rights, until next year.
One of the biggest prizes given away this year will be to the winner of the “King Arthur Flour Great Cake.” Out of all participants, 15 contestants nationwide will place first and one of the first-place winners will receive their choice of a $500 shopping spree from KingArthurFlour.com or a complimentary trip to Vermont for a class at the King Arthur Flour Baking Education Center.
