Fair Announces 2010 Grandstand Entertainment Lineup

Entertainers From Across the Nation Scheduled; Attractions Also Announced for Dixie Classic Fair

Special Guest Performer George Hamilton IV Returns to Dixie Classic Fair Stage after Debut in 1957

Winston-Salem, N.C., July 27, 2010 – The Dixie Classic Fair, the second largest agricultural Fair in North Carolina and owned and operated by the City of Winston-Salem, N.C., has announced this year’s Grandstand entertainment schedule. From nationally-known performers and demolition derbies to rodeos and tractor pulls, the Grandstand has top-notch evening entertainment planned each night of the 10-day event.

Starting each night of the Fair at 7:30 p.m., Grandstand entertainment kicks off Friday, October 1. Beginning with the Demolition Derby and ending with the Rodeo, the Dixie Classic Fair is sure to thrill and excite with this year’s Grandstand entertainment.

Grandstand Entertainment Schedule:

Friday, October 1 and Thursday, October 7: Demolition Derby
Drivers ram and demolish their vehicles into one another and victory is awarded to the last driver whose vehicle is still operational in the derby.

Saturday, October 2 and Friday, October 8: Figure 8 Racing
Figure 8 Racing brings mayhem, chaos and catastrophe all rolled into one. Auto racers circulate through a course resembling the number 8, twisting and turning all vying to finish first.

Sunday, October 3 and Sunday, October 10: Rodeo
The skills and speed of cowboys and cowgirls are tested at this sporting event with horses and other livestock, featuring tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling and saddle bronc riding.

Monday, October 4: Jason Michael Carroll sponsored by WTQR
Country music’s most impressive new artist shares his latest album that includes three hit singles. With a chart-topping debut album nearing a half-million in sales, Carroll is sure to put on an unforgettable performance.

Tuesday, October 5: THE TAMS sponsored by Entercom
Entertaining audiences for more than 40 years, The Tams show appeals to audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Known for hits “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy” and “What Kind of Fool,” timeless music will fill the air for Fairgoers to enjoy.

Wednesday, October 6: Tenth Avenue North sponsored by WBFJ
A popular Christian music band from West Palm Beach, FL, Tenth Avenue North cuts to the heart with their spiritual music that brings together family and friends every day.

Saturday, October 9: OTTPA Tractor Pull sponsored by Solid Space
Also performing for a 3:00 PM show, this Fair classic allows participants to use tractors and large trucks to pull a heavy drag along a ‘track’. A great spectacle with noise, smoke and a lot of dirt perfect for families and kids.

In addition to entertainment at the Grandstand, the Dixie Classic Fair has several thrilling attractions scheduled including but not limited to Nocks Thrilling Motorcycle Globe; glass blower Jeff Wilson; Agricadabra, an agriculture magical act; chainsaw artist Jerry Ward; wine tasting and displays, Swifty Swine swimming and racing pigs and Acrobats on sway poles.

Dixie Classic Fair Welcomes Back George Hamilton IV:
Making his Dixie Classic Fair debut in 1957, George Hamilton IV will return to the Clock Tower Stage to perform some of his beloved classics on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Having just celebrated his 50th anniversary with the Grand Ole Opry, Hamilton is best known for hits including A Rose and a Baby Ruth, Abilene, Fort Worth, Dallas Or Houston and She’s A Little Bit Country.
